WaterGEMS Update 3 - Reference to deleted unit demand pattern

Hello,

I keep getting this error "reference to a deleted unit demand pattern" on all my customer meters.  I do not have any unit demands or unit demand patterns in the model.  What am I missing here?

Regards,

Youssef

  • Well, here is what I found.  I just noticed that the error was resolved after I globally edited all customer meter unit demand patterns from "blank" to "fixed," even though I do not have any unit demands.  It seems that even with no (zero) unit demands, the model still wants to have a pattern (or at least fixed) assigned under the unit demand patterns for all customer meters.  Just curious as to why that may be the case?  I hope someone can clarify my misunderstanding.

  • Hello Youssef,

Could you please provide more details about the issue?

Did you have unit demands column added to the customer meter flex tables? Do you have unit demands in the model lets say for junctions?

When I added pattern column to the flex table the fixed pattern was defined automatically? Did you you change it by any chance earlier?

More details would help us in rectifying the issue.

I do not have any unit demands at all in the model.  Yes, I added all the unit demand columns to the flextable to identify the problem.  As expected, the flextable columns pertaining to unit demands were either n/a, blank or zero.

When I added pattern column to the flex table the fixed pattern was defined automatically? Did you you change it by any chance earlier?

In this model, the unit demand pattern was "blank," which was the cause of the error.  After I globally changed it to "fixed," the error went away.  However, now that I am looking at the model again, I can't seem to change the pattern to "blank," so I am not entirely sure how it was "blank" in the first place.  Any thoughts?

  • Hi Youssef,

That could happen if someone did the following:

    1) Create a pattern (at some point the label got changed to blank).

    2) Assigned that pattern to the unit demands.

    3) The fact that you were seeing a warning at compute time indicates that the pattern was deleted (but the unit demands still referred to the deleted pattern).
