equipment losses where to consider

Dear Bentley team,

If any equipment like Flow element, strainer, filters. heat exchange etc are there on the pump suction/discharge line, where to consider equipment pressure drop  in WaterGEMS.

thank you

  • Dear Bentley team,

    Could you please help us, where to add pressure drop of the equipments (like Flow element, strainer, filters, heat exchange or any other miscellaneous items)  which are coming in the pump hydraulics loop, as of now we could not find any thing in Layout section of WaterGEMS to include these drops.

    thank you

  • Hello Jayakanthan,

    If you wish to apply a constant headloss across you can do so by modeling a PBV (pressure breaker valve) or a GPV (general purpose valve). You can specify your known pressure drop to be applied in these elements when modeling. See the below article for details on this;

    Modeling a Constant Headloss

    where to add pressure drop of the equipments (like Flow element, strainer, filters, heat exchange or any other miscellaneous items)

    If you are modeling elements that are not explicitly available in WaterGEMS, you can also take a look at the below wiki article which provides some tips for modeling;

    Modeling devices and components that are not explicitly available as an element

    Essentially, you should try to understand how these elements are hydraulically relevant. If they have known values of headloss which significantly impact the system you can model them as per the above article.
