Demand Allocation

Hi,

I have a billing meter database which compromises properties with two or three kinds of consumption (e.g., residential, commercial and irrigation for an individual property). I imported these duplicate demands by individual LoadBulider run through Nearest Node method. Now, I wonder what is the best approach to be ensure about correct allocation of duplicate demands to those properties in WaterGEMS (connection Edition)?

  • Hello Ryan,

    Is this billing meter database stored separately for each of the consumption types? I.e. separate for residential, commercial and irrigation? Is this why you have to do each operation separately? Is it possible to combine the data so that you can identify consumption types and assign the loads in one LoadBuilder run?

    I am sharing an article which discusses how the different LoadBuilder methods works for your reference;

    How do each of the LoadBuilder methods work?

    Let me know if this helps.

  • Hi Yashodhan,

    Thanks for your response. Yes, they are separate demands. I am aware on your proposed approach. However, the main issue is that when I try to join the combined data set of demands (Excel file) to an existing shape file of Property IDs in ArcGIS (to create the final demand layer as an input file for LoadBuilder), for those properties that have multiple demands, the joint values are represented as Null values. For this reason, I used two LoadBuilder file, one for properties with unique demand and the other one for those with multiple demands. If you know any other handy method, please inform me.

    Regards,

    Ryan
