How can I update SewerGEMS if the latest version of Connection Client doesn't run on Windows 7?

My Connection Client currently shows three available updates, one of them being for the Client itself. Unfortunately, the newest version of CC doesn't run on Windows 7, so I can't perform the update.

Trouble is, the client won't let me complete the other updates until I have first updated it.

Any thoughts?

  • Hello David,

Unfortunately, Support for Windows 7 has ended, therefore we can no longer support our  products running on that platform.  Your only option is to upgrade to a supported platform.

Here is a Wiki article from Microsoft instructing you on what to do next.

    I hope it's helpful.

  • Thank you Larry. My PC is on the list to be upgraded, so looks like I'll have to wait until then.

  • Hi David,

I'd like to expand a bit on this as I've had a discussion with our development team.

For our latest releases (10.03.02.XX), although the software itself supports Windows 7, the version of the CONNECTION Client that it ships with no longer supports Windows 7, and the software relies on the CONNECTION Client so that you can sign in and license the product.

We will look into clarifying this for our next releases, to avoid confusion as our system requirements still mention support for Windows 7. For now, I have updated the release announcement content and Platform Support wiki article.

You can also download our products from the Software Downloads site, which you can find at connect.bentley.com (details here) but the installation routine will automatically install the newer CONNECTION Client version, which as you noticed will not work on Windows 7.

It is good to hear that you will upgrade, as Windows 7 is also no longer supported by Microsoft as Larry indicated, which also puts you at risk since security updates are no longer provided.
