"Custom results path is invalid" error when trying to export results to a different directory.

WaterCad 10.03.01.08 64 bit

I would like to save my output to a different directory than where the model input files are stored.

However, when I go to Tools > Options > Hydraulic Model then enable the "Specify Custom Results Path", any path I enter for the Root Path results in the "Custom Results Path Invalid" error message.

In order to even exit the program "gracefully" the Root Path has to be changed back to the original path.

I've read the article "How are results saved in output files?" and it seems that changing the path should be a straightforward operation.

And BTW, in the article "How are results saved in output files?", the See Also link at the bottom for  "Error Saving: Custom Results Path is Invalid" is dead.

Any suggestions?

Happy New Year to all!

  • Hi Gary, make sure you pick a valid path format and that the final "Path" field shows the correct path. For example:

Regarding the dead link - that article had been archived due to disuse. I have moved it back to the public Wiki: Error Saving: "Custom results path is invalid"

  • Thanks Jesse!  Works great now.

One item:  The Wiki article on "Error Saving: Custom Results Path is Invalid" contains a slight error - It states "When this box is checked, the result files are placed in the directory as specified in the Path field described below, when the model is saved."  In my version at least (10.03.01.08) I must exit the application before it will write the files.  I have not tried "Save As..." yet.
