Inlets and Pipes

I'm new to StormCad and I have to lay out a sewer system with inlets and pipes, when I go and input my parameters they don't show up in the properties dialog. I have Inlet Catchment Data that I can't find. If someone can help, it is very appreciated.

  • Hello Francisca,

What kind of inlet catchment data do you have? Runoff hydrograph? Time vs Flow curves?

The way a typical storm network is configured in StormCAD is that you have catchments at the upstream which have data like runoff coefficients and area. These drain into catch-basins (inlets) which capture the runoff generated by the catchment and carry it downstream through conduits towards the outfall.

Since you are using StormCAD you would be analyzing using the GVF-Rational solver which uses the Rational method to generate runoff. For this you need to specify IDF storm data which will be used to compute rainfall intensity. This rainfall intensity will be used along with the catchment parameters such as area and runoff coefficient to calculate runoff (flow) from the catchment.

Try going through some examples from the Quick Start Lessons found under the Help section of StormCAD to understand how your network can be configured. Also, refer the link Sushma shared above for learning resources on StormCAD.

    Hope this helps.
