Issue with "Active Topology" in SewerGems

When I click on "Active Topology" icon, the model by default selects all project elements, and if I click on clear selection so I can limit the selection to what I need to make active or inactive, the model gives an error massage.. Is there a way to fix this?... Thanks

  • Hello Lamyaa,

What version of SewerGEMS you are using?

What is the error message that you receive upon clearing the existing selection in active topology, screenshots or more details would help.

If you are getting this error for a particular model only and not for all the models, then please try following.

    • Compact database, File>Database utilities>Compact Database
    • Copy only .sqlite & .stsw.sqlite files to a new folder and open model from new location.
    • File>Import>SewerGEMS Database into a new file.

Also here is wiki on using active topology along with a video for your reference to make sure you are following it correctly.

  • I am using SewerGEMS Connect Edition (10.03.02.04)

But why, from the first place, the model select all elements once I click on Active Topology.. it is a big project and makes it confusing to inactive elements I need to (everything is turned to red as the screen shot below)

And here is the error massage I get once I click Clear Selection

    Many Thanks for your help!

  • Hello Lamyaa,

The elements appearing as red when you open the Active Topology Selection tool is expected. This is how the inactive elements are displayed. You can click the button that has an arrow and a negative sign (the third button from the left in your screenshot) to remove elements and make them active again. This is described in more detail in the active topology link that Sushma provided.

Depending on how many elements you need to make active, there are a few options available to you. If you need all element active, you can simply click the Remove button (the third from the left in the Select toolbar) and then use your mouse to select all of the elements. When you click the green checkmark, the elements will be active.

If there are select elements you need active, the simplest way is to use queries or selection sets. The workflow for this is in the active topology wiki as well.

    Regards,
