Hi everyone
I'm working in this file in which we have two tanks discharging at the same time into a distribution system. Both tanks are identical and we have an estimated demand plot. The thing is that the flow between both the tanks are constantly changing. I know that the HGL is changing but still I can't make it work. We want the flow to be equal in both discharge pipes.
The goal is to analyze the filling and draining of the tanks, but due to this issue it can't be done since one tank is filling the other.
Here's the file in case I wasn't clear.
Many thanks in advance.

Are the tank levels oscillating? If so, tiny numerical roundoff will cause fluctuations. You can overcome this by using smaller time steps in the model.
If the tanks ar very close, you may be better off combining the two tanks into one equivalent tank.
Here is a link that can give you more details.

Thank you Tom. They are indeed oscillating.
I changed the time steps to 1 min and still get changing flows, although I can see the graph of the tanks draining more reasonable. The changing is taking place every one minute.
We want to have both tanks in the model because we need to see the interaction between the pumps filling the tanks and the demand draining them. It could be that one of the tanks would be operating alone at some point.
