Hi
I want to analyze failure scenarios for 2 pumps in parallel in HAMMER. Therefore I´d like to ask how could I set the following scenarios:
1-) Sudden and simultaneous pumps Start-up (sudden change in flow).
2-) Sudden and simultaneous pumps shut-down.
3-) Failure and stoppage of one of the pumps.
Hello Julio,
The following link has information modeling a pump start-up in HAMMER: Modeling a Pump Start-up Transient Event.
This link has information on model a pump shutdown: Modeling a pump shut down transient event. This workflow can be used to model a single pump shutting down while the other stays on as well.
Regards,
Scott
Additionally - for #3 (one pump stops while the other continues) - you can have different transient pump types for each pump in parallel. One can be set to shut down while the other to constant speed. For the pump that continues to stay on and operate at a constant speed during the transient simulation, set the transient pump type to "Constant Speed - Four Quadrant Characteristics" or "Constant Speed - Pump Definition". See the differences here: Differences between the Constant Speed transient pump types
