I've explained my problem in this video.

  • Hello Caroline,

It is interesting that you want to add ground elevation to the profile. For a transient simulation, the pipeline elevation would be of interest, as it enables you to accurately track if/where vapor pocket formation occurs. See the bottom of this article: What does node elevation represent in WaterCAD, WaterGEMS and HAMMER?

The "chart options" that you are trying to use are a third-party plugin. This is also why changes to some chart options are not retained when re-opening the graph, as it is a limitation with the plugin used. This is explained here: Changes to graph's chart options aren't being retained

However, you should not need to use the chart options to accomplish what you want. You can add a User Data Extension to your node elements to store the ground elevation, then add it to the profile using the Profile Series Options: right click inside the profile and choose Profile Series options, then expand the User Defined section on the right side and select your user data extension. Since your profile may span multiple node element types (junction, pump, reservoir, tank, etc), you can use the "Share" option in the User Data Extension manager to create the same User Data Extension for all of them. You can use the Flextables to paste in the ground elevation values. Or, if the ground elevation is consistently above the pipe elevation by a certain number you could create a formula-derived User Data Extension which adds a static value to the elevation to calculate the ground elevation field (and then add it to the profile. The Profile Series Options will be saved in the profile so that it appears when you re-open it. See more here: Add custom data to profile with User Data Extensions

  • Thanks Jesse!

As always, your answers are spot on! Thanks also for providing the last image because I had trouble figuring out how to configure the 3 values under the Units category (if someone else reads this, if you are not using a formula, your Data Type needs to be "Real" and not "Integer" or "Text").

Thanks again and have a great day! Smiley
