how can i export into autocad

Hello Rahul,

You can export your SewerGEMS model to a DXF format which can be opened in AutoCAD and saved as a drawing (.DWG) format. See the below article on how you can do this;

Hello Rahul,

Exporting to dxf format, you have less control over what to export except options specified on export. If you have SewerGEMS integrated with AutoCAD, then you can open SewerGEMS models directly in AutoCAD integrated platform. 

Could you please tell us what are you trying to achieve here, so we can help you with other options. 

When you export the model as shapefiles you have full control over what to export.

Civil3D integration (Pipe network import/export) 

I have a network for a sector of a city and the consultancy guys are using autocad and civil 3d to make the layout. But as I want to analyse it in autocad so I asked them to create shapefiles so that I can into the software using modelbuilder. But they are not able to create shapefile having all the attributes like diameter of pipes and manholes gis ids  also elevations. 

So is there a way they can create correct shapefiles or another way to send file which I can load in sewergems

This Wiki article explains which files are required to open a model in the Integrated product.  For WaterCAD, you need the .dwg, .wtg, and .wtg.sqlite files in a folder in order to open a WaterCAD model with  the Integrated product.

Please let us know if they can give you a copy of the model (including these three files) and open it in the integrated product.

I also noticed that you mentioned the network comes from AutoCAD and Civil3D. You might have a pipe network which can be imported via LandXML format - Please see this link as Sushma recommended above.

Hello Rahul,

What Larry has suggested can help you if working withing an AutoCAD environment or if exporting pipe networks from Civil 3D. However, if the Consultancy that is providing the data is only using C3D for surface creation then they can export the surface to a LandXML format which can be used in WaterGEMS using Terrain Extractor (TRex) to assign elevations.

If they are also having a CAD file of the network (with no attribute) data, it needs to be brought into a GIS environment (ArcGIS, QGIS) and then attribute data (diameter, material etc.) assigned to it. One way of doing this is to export the CAD drawing to a DXF format in AutoCAD / C3D. The DXF format is recognized in many GIS applications so you can open the file there. Once you are able to access the file there, you can assign attribute data and then export to shapefiles.
