problem with trex elevations

Question

I tried using trex for importing elevations into the model 
 I am attaching a file for which I have imported from the model builder and then using trex with dxf contour option I imported elevations but elevations which were imported are not correct some were correct but some are way off 
 I am attaching the file . 
 please suggest how do I get elevations into the model any other way I need both ground as well as invert 
 what kind of file my data provider should create as we have tried with many options like shape files also but not happening

Hello Rahul, 
 The mentioned model files are not attached herewith. 
 With multiple posts related to importing ground and invert elevations implies that you are having difficulty importing elevations altogether. 
 You can import ground and invert elevations both using Modelbuilder or use TRex to import ground elevations and MB for invert elevations. 
 Please upload the TRex file you are importing, dataset to be imported using Modelbuilder, model files etc., zip them before uploading.

Hello Rahul, 
 You have uploaded a dxf file consisting of polylines, which is the same file you had uploaded for Modelbuilder-creating model issue. 
 Is it the same file you are using to import elevations using TRex, if yes please note that you need DXF points file or DXF contour file or shapefiles to use TRex, dxf polyline wont help to import elevations using TRex. 
 Since you are importing DXF polylines files to build the model, below wiki will help you to make sure you are preparing DXF file correctly. 
 Importing an AutoCAD or MicroStation CAD file using ModelBuilder 
 If you are importing shapefiles to build the model, it can import the elevations (ground/invert) as well, when shapefile is formatted correctly. 
 Preparing GIS data for use in the hydraulics and hydrology products 
 For importing elevations using TRex, you can create the DXF contour file in AutoCAD or DXF point file, where points will contain elevations information or using shapefile also you can import elevations in TRex, there are multiple choices to choose from.

Hey Rahul, 
 Appreciate your patience. I checked the DXF and was able to build a network in SewerGEMS. Out of the many layers in the DXF there are three or four layers which are useful to build a model. There is one point layer "*** ML"which has manhole Northing and Easting values as well as "Elevation" which I mapped to "Elevation (Ground)". The other three layers are for the different pipeline diameters and I used "spatial join" to map to the nearest elements as the "Start" and "Stop" fields are not available for mapping. 
 However for the "*** ML" layer, some elevation values are zero too so you might check it out. Other point layers have elevation values, but when previewing them in ModelBuilder, I could see that most of them have a wide range of elevation values not close to the elevation values range you have for a majority of the manholes. For example you have most of the elevation values in the range of 190 m to 198 m or so, but these manholes have elevation values in the range of 500's or 600's. However, this is just my visual inspection and if those values are true. 
 Another point to note here is that conduits / pipes do not themselves have elevation values in our OpenFlows products. SewerGEMS much like WaterGEMS works on the principle of Node-Link-Node, i.e. the nodes have elevation information (ground, invert etc.) and the links (conduits, pipes) connecting between these nodes (manholes) take the upstream and downstream elevation values. Even when you use TReX or Terrain Model, the nodes (manholes) are updated with the elevation values. So, having elevation data in the 3D polylines is not useful to import in SewerGEMS.

 Before importing any CAD network, please remember that CAD information is only graphical, that is why you see only the fields like "Line Weight" or "Layer Type" when importing via ModelBuilder. There is no provision for adding attribute data easily. However, there are certain workarounds to this like naming the layer with the diameter values so that it becomes an importable attribute and so on. The above video also discusses this. 
 Ensure that the linework is as simple as possible and try to import only the graphical data. Since the attribute information is difficult to get in you can try updating the elements using Excel data in a separate ModelBuilder run. 
 Obviously, the best way is to convert the linework into simple shapefiles and then add attribute data to it in any GIS platform. GIS is the combination of geometrical data (X, Y and Z) having attribute information (Elevation, Diameter etc.).

 This is because you are accidently creating new, additional manholes instead of "updating" existing manholes. If you create manholes via DXF using ModelBuilder and the names are not as per your standards, you only need to change the names. If you have an Excel datasheet with all the manholes names, diameters and other properties, in ModelBuilder uncheck the "Add objects to destination if present in source" so that new manholes are not created. Instead check on the below option "Update existing objects if present in source" to update existing manholes. See the "Updating an existing model using ModelBuilder" section in the below article for details;
