Some pipes are removed after importing from dxf

I am trying to import 2 dxf files containing a set of lines  through ModelBuilder.

When I imported the first one, the network is correctly created with pipes corresponding to each line and joints are automatically created to connect pipes.

However, when I imported the second set (second dxf file), some of the pipes from the first set are eliminated (the closest to the second set)  but the joints remain unconnected.

  • Hi Sebastián,

I think you are saying that you are importing both DXF files into the same model, correct? Most likely the issue is with the uniqueness of the label. It is possible that the second import is trying to create pipes that have the same label as some of the pipes in the first import. You'll need to ensure that there are unique labels across both files in order to correctly import and avoid ModelBuilder trying to update existing element instead of add new ones.

This can be done either by selecting a more appropriate field for the "key/label" in the Field Mapping step on ModelBuilder (such as "<label>"). Or, you may need to perform a relabel for the pipes and junctions (via the Flextables) after the first run but before the second run. See:

Also, although you may be doing this already, when importing a DXF file through ModelBuilder, be sure to use the spatial tolerance option to connect nearby elements. More details here: Importing an AutoCAD or MicroStation CAD file using ModelBuilder
