One thing to keep in mind specifically for HAMMER is that the controls available in the controls dialog apply to the initial conditions only (steady state/EPS). During the transient simulation, those controls do not apply and you will need to rely on dynamic surge protection equipment (such as surge valves which open based on a pressure condition) or operating rule patterns for other things like pumps and valves.
