I want to check if the pump is appropriate for the model, the time tank is getting full and if the pressure before the tank plays any role as long as hydraylic grade is the main metric factor..is the demand set process necessary?

  • I need a pump working for summer season where everyone needs water for their garden, washing etc because they open the water taps simultaneously, so i want to fill the tank fast. Yes the goal is to store water into tank but fast. In the node K-175 before tank, pressure is at 0.23 atm so is it enough to fill the tank fast? In the patterns i created for this network in another model summer consumption is about 1100 m3/day. This demand is met from the tank there but i want more for this season of the year. I assume i have to run it in EPS and insert a positive demand in the tank to see how the percentage of water in the tank change? Thanks for the first answer, it was helpful.

    Regarding how quickly the tank fills, without any demands between the reservoir and the tank, the flow into the tank will be based on the difference between the hydraulic grade between the reservoir and tank and on the pump definition for the pump. The pump will add enough head to the system to overcome the headloss in the pipes between the pump and the tank so that the hydraulic grade at the tank will match the initial tank water elevation.     Regarding the demands, if you put a demand on the tank, the demand will be pulled from the tank as well. In an EPS run, you would see the tank water elevation change based on this demand. The alternative would be to connect a junction or series of junctions to the tank on the downstream side and put the demand there. The pump will operate to fill the tank and the flow will come out of the tank to meet the demand at the downstream node or nodes.
