Switching Paper Sizes to plot a profile crashes

Hi,

I am trying to print to Bluebeam PDF profile and when I use print preview to switch the paper size to 11X17 WaterCAD crashes (version 10.03.01.08).

Not sure what to do about that.

  • Nastassja, this may be difficult to troubleshoot as I do not believe we have access to test this.

    Some initial questions for you:

    1. Have you tried restarting WaterCAD (or restarting your computer?) and trying again?
    2. Does this happen in just one profile or all profiles? One model all models? (including a sample file?)
    3. Are you able to switch paper sizes with other printers? How about the built-in Windows PDF driver?
    4. Have you tried changing the default printer and default paper size in the Windows Printer settings? (then reopen WaterCAD)
    5. Can you provide a copy of the crash details or log file?
    6. Are you able to upgrade to the latest version, 10.03.05.05? See:
      1. Downloading OpenFlows Software

      2. What's new in WaterGEMS and WaterCAD CONNECT Edition Update 3.2 (10.03.02.75)

      3. What's new in WaterGEMS and WaterCAD CONNECT Edition Update 3.3 (10.03.03.72)

      4. What's new in WaterGEMS and WaterCAD CONNECT Edition Update 3.4 (10.03.04.05)

      5. What's new in WaterGEMS and WaterCAD CONNECT Edition Update 3.5 (10.03.05.0X)

  • Jesse,

    My responses are below

    Some initial questions for you:

      1. Yes
    2. Does this happen in just one profile or all profiles? One model all models? (including a sample file?)
      1. Every profile and all models (including the sample files) in Hammer 10.03.05.05 and WaterCAD 10.03.01.08.
    3. Are you able to switch paper sizes with other printers? How about the built-in Windows PDF driver?
      1. I am not actually trying to print the PDF, but print to PDF. After I make this selection is when it crashes. It seems to be crashing no matter what size paper I select (not just 11X17). It occurs when I have PDF report write set as printer or Bluebeam PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF etc.
    4. Have you tried changing the default printer and default paper size in the Windows Printer settings? (then reopen WaterCAD)
      1. I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. See my earlier response.
    5. Can you provide a copy of the crash details or log file?
      1. I think so. I will upload
    6. Are you able to upgrade to the latest version, 10.03.05.05? See:
      1. Working on it with IT (very slow process). That might take a day or two.

Yes, I understand. My question was for troubleshooting purposes - to see if the same problem happens when trying to print to a different printer (such as print to PDF). It sounds like the issue is not specific to the printer, model or Bentley product.

Are you seeing the same issue when printing from other applications like Microsoft Word for example?

I tested this and was not able to reproduce it, but I did not have the 11X17 size available for any printer. I'm trying to figure out how to get those added, but that could be a clue.
