storm water , sewerGems

hi, please advise

why the hydraulic jump in the specific manhole.

thanks,

  • Hello,

    This could be happening with a slope change in the upstream and downstream pipes. Trying raising or lowering the invert level at that manhole and see if this helps. If you have set the conduits with "set invert to start / stop"; uncheck them and manually input your values which are slightly higher / lower. See the below article which has more steps on this;

    Hydraulic grade discontinuity at steep pipes or across nodes (frontwater analysis)

    Let me know if this helps.

  • Ahmed,

    Which numerical solver are you using? (check your calculation options)

    What version of SewerGEMS are you using? (check under File > Help > About). The latest is currently 10.03.04.53.

    Are there multiple pipes connecting to this manhole and if so, does the one that is not shown on the profile connect at a higher elevation?

    If you're using the Implicit or Explicit solver or an EPS with the Convex solver, is the problem specific to the first timestep or does it go away if you advance forward in time using the Time Browser?
