Values for pressure wave and time step interval

Dear Bentley Team,

I am having confusion in setting Base Calculation Options of Transient Solver in Time Step Interval and Pressure Wave Speed.  What value should I enter or leave it blank for Pressure Wave Speed as I have seen to pipes.

Thanks & Regards,

Syed Ahmed.

  • Hello Syed,

You can either specify the wave speed values in all pipe properties / pipe flex table and keep pressure wave =0 in calculation options or you can specify wave speed global value in calculation options and leave zero in pipe properties. This is explained in detail below, please go through it.

Entering Pipe Wave Speed for a Transient Simulation

For time step interval, you can specify this value in the range of 0.01 seconds, which is used to specify interval between calculation time steps for transient results. Lower the value you can see more minute interval results.
