Hi, I'm trying to simulate an estuary (the mouth of a river in the sea) but I can't find any information about the steps to follow to model the river that flows into the sea. I have already simulated the tidal hydrodynamic model in the estuary domain using MOHID Water. Then you should do a hydrodynamic model for the whole (tide + river discharge). Is there a guide with steps to follow for this type of simulations? Where can I find it? The explanations I have found are applied to MOHID Land, land drainage, urban flooding.Thank you.

Are you simulating a coastal scenario? You can look at setting up such a simulation here: Input wave parameters in a coastal simulation. Have you setup this simulation already?
Do you want to model flooding due to tidal intrusion front?
Can you please elaborate a bit more on what you want to simulate?

My idea is to simulate an estuary where the mixing zone can be distinguished, the extent of the saline plume in the river generated by the variation in sea level. Based on the options you described to me above, I would think it would be a good idea not to use a nested simulation. I think it is better to extend the grid inland (that is, in the river region) and then add the river with the discharge module. Once we obtain the hydrodynamics of the river, we will be able to run the sediment and heavy metal transport models.Again thank you very much and I keep in touch with you.

I have modeled the estuary using a higher resolution grid and I used the river as a discharge, but the execution time is too long. I would like to try refining the grid using a submodel. Could you give me information to do this?The objective is to calculate the coastal/river mixing area and then use the hydrodynamic model to calculate the sediment transport in the river: this should be useful to find out if the sediments accumulate outside the mouth of the river, or if the tide introduces sediments.Thank you very much for your help.
