Hi, I'm trying to simulate an estuary (the mouth of a river in the sea) but I can't find any information about the steps to follow to model the river that flows into the sea. I have already simulated the tidal hydrodynamic model in the estuary domain using MOHID Water. Then you should do a hydrodynamic model for the whole (tide + river discharge). Is there a guide with steps to follow for this type of simulations? Where can I find it? The explanations I have found are applied to MOHID Land, land drainage, urban flooding.Thank you.
Hello Gabriel,
Are you simulating a coastal scenario? You can look at setting up such a simulation here: Input wave parameters in a coastal simulation. Have you setup this simulation already?
Do you want to model flooding due to tidal intrusion front?
Can you please elaborate a bit more on what you want to simulate?

Yashodhan Joshi
Hello Yashodhan,
Hello. Thanks for your reply. I am trying to simulate the hydrodynamic model at the mouth of a river. This is about a river that flows into the sea and I need to calculate how the river currents interact with the variation in sea level. To accomplish this, I ran a 2D model of the ocean side to get the tide in the river mouth domain. I understood that now I should nest the river simulation, correct? At the moment I don't need to calculate waves.
Thank you very much!I will be testing this suggestion.Regards,

Hello. Thank you for always responding to our queries. In this case I would like to tell you that I have followed the instructions step by step to make the model of the estuary, but even so, the nested hydrodynamic model is not created. The problem is that, by not being able to identify the error, we do not know what it is due to.What can be happening? Is it possible to make a nested model with a curvilinear grid? If possible, where can I find this information? Thanks.
Gabriel,
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "not created"? Are you encountering any message, or are you attempting to complete some action and nothing happens? Any details you can provide (including your FLOOD version number) would be helpful for troubleshooting.
It may also be helpful for you to provide all the files necessary for us to attempt to reproduce the issue. See: How to Export and Import OpenFlows FLOOD Workspaces

Jesse, thanks for your help. When I say: "it is not created", I mean that the nested hydrodynamic model is not executed (run).I attach below the exported model, maybe you can test it and identify the error.Thank you very much.Good day!Gabriel Huck

Hi Gabriel, we are looking into this and will get back to you shortly.
