SewerGEMS compared to InfoWorks ICM?

What makes SewerGEMS superior to InfoWorks ICM?

Parents
  • Hello Rajendra,

    There are a few major differences in terms of tools and features available in SewerGEMS such as;

    • Multiple solvers - Option of working with different solvers to suit project requirements
    • Scenario Management with inheritance - Create multiple "What If?" conditions to test different modeling options in the same model. No need to create different models. Everything can be tracked in a single model.
    • Familiar interface across water and sewer products - The OpenFlows products all have the same UI. So if you are an existing user of (say) WaterGEMS, you will find navigating SewerGEMS also easy.
    • Superior support and training - We have a lot of training, learning and support content developed over the years to cater to our users in any requirement.
    • Can use the solvers within other Bentley products such as OpenRoads Designer for road infrastructure.
    • Platform Flexibility - Can work on multiple integrated platforms such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS depending on your workflow.
    • One product contains all the tools - No need to purchase additional modules.

    You can learn more about SewerGEMS here: OpenFlows SewerGEMS

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello Yashodhan,

    Adding to what you said and for the transparency as a user/fan of the SewerGEMS my observation is;

    The InfoWorks ICM has the 2D modeling capabilities built-in, that module is included and does not need another program to run the 2D, we all hope Bentley to include that in the SewerGEMS.

    Also, the InfoWorks ICM has a very powerful engine to run the simulation, one model built with gullies to run the scenario in SewerGEMS could reach 1 hour, the same one took 3 minutes to finish the simulation.

    Regarding the solver; the InoWorks built with the SWMM engine same SewerGEMS, also has the capabilities to import directly from other programs, such as XPSWMM, InfoSWMM, InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, HEC-RAS, ...etc.

  • Thank you for the useful information. Do you have any experience using SewerGEMS or InfoWorks ICM to model a wastewater treatment plant? How they perform in treatment plant modeling?

  • Our developers are working on 1D-2D integrated modeling in SewerGEMS--stay tuned!

  • Hello kristen,

    That is really good news, all Bentley users are waiting for that for a long time.

    From our experience of other software, the GPU processing should be integrated when using the 1D-2D which will speed up the Run simulation, hope that be noticed by your developers.

    what about the 1D running issue? I already raised it previously (reference # 815156), that discussed widely with Jesse.

    When we do expect the release of the new feature?
