i am trying to calculate the pipe weight in bentley water gems.
I have created the thickness as integer in user data extension .Created second user data extension with pipe weight formula.
i.e pi() x (Do+t)/1000*(t/1000)*L*7.85
It will give the value in Metric Ton of Steel pipe.
I am getting wrong result.
Even if i type 3.14 in formula it is showing other value in filed.
Diameter and thickness in mm i typed in formula, but it is showing in inch as a result in flextable..
this seems illogical, am i error or bentley watergems bug.
Hello Satish,
Check the default units for WaterGEMS (Tools > More > Options). See if they are set as "US Customary" instead of "SI". In case you are working in metric system make sure the default system is set correctly. See this article to change the units: Changing units in Properties, Flextables, graphs or profiles.
Also when using Formula Based UDX make sure the actual units of all the parameters do give the result in the intended units. Often the incorrect unit could be setup and you might be entering the value thinking it was the other way. For example the units for diameter might be setup as "m" but you have entered the value as"300" thinking it was in "mm". This can also cause incorrect results being generated. Check your input values and make sure everything is in order.
Let me know if this helps.

Hello yashodan.
Unit is SI only i attached photos of User Data extension. Please resolve as soon as possible.
Hello,
First, for the "Weight" formula UDX, check the definition (left side of your screenshot) and ensure the units there are set appropriately (it sounds like you want to use diameter / millimeters).
Next, the units that are actually displayed in the properties can be changed per the article Yashodhan provided.
Lastly, it is best to change your thickness UDX to the "Real" data type and specify the default units as millimeters.
If this does not help, it would be best to provide a copy of the model and provide an example pipe that you believe is showing the wrong calculated value, and tell us what you believe the value should be vs. what you see.

Thanks for your reply.
i am adding diameter wise thickness using nested if function. it is not working. two time i need work your water gems software and microsoft excel . it is wasting the time.
Please provide a copy of the model for review as indicated in my previous response. Please also reply with any details needed to observe/reproduce the issue (expected outcome vs. what you see, for example)
