If i copy data from within modelbuilder and send it to excel to manipulate it. Will i lose the coordinates associated with set data when i try to load the data back into watercad using modelbuilder?
Hi Christen,
Coordinate data (in your hydraulic model) won’t be lost when importing from excel. (Note that Excel can optionally be used to import node x, y coordinates- by explicitly specifying the x,y fields on the mapping step for node element types).

Hello Rob my original source file is not a excel file. My original source file is a esri shapefile. However ones I import that esri shapefile into watercad using modelbuilder i want to copy that data from modelbuilder export to an excel sheet so that I can easily manipulate the data seeing as I'm more versed in excel. But then after I manipulate the data in excel I then want to to export it back to watercad. It's in this situation that I'm wondering if coordinate data might get lost.
Hello Christen,
I assume that you are making the edits to update the model with ModelBuilder. If that is the case, and ss long as you are not adjusting the label in your edits, the coordinate data is not something that will change. ModelBuilder should just update the existing element with the new data from the Excel file. The link about ModelBuilder that Sushma linked to above as information on updating existing models with ModelBuilder.
Regards,
Scott
