I am working with the integrated version of Watergems for Arcgis Pro and i am encountering an Unexpected XML error while doing the " Add joins " command.

This does not happen all the time. It works perfectly sometimes and other times no matter what,  the join will not work.

Any solution for this ?

  • Hello Farah, here are a few questions to start troubleshooting this issue:

    1. Which specific version of WaterGEMS and ArcGIS Pro are you using? If you are not on the latest supported versions, upgrading is recommended. See: Platform Compatibility
    2. Does this problem seem to occur only for specific models, or multiple models?
    3. Does it occur consistently even if you close and reopen WaterGEMS for ArcGIS Pro? Perhaps it is related to some specific sequence of events, like computing the model first? If model specific, can you provide a copy of the model for testing? Sharing Hydraulic Model Files on the OpenFlows Forum
    4. Have you tried any other troubleshooting steps?
      1. Re-run the integrator from the Start menu ("Integrate WaterGEMS with...")
      2. Delete the intermediate geodatabase file and re-open the project? (.wtg.gdb) See: How does the intermediate geodatabase (.MDB or .GDB) file function with ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro integration?
      3. Move the .WTG and .WTG.SQLITE files (the hydraulic model files) to a new folder on your local hard drive, then create a new ArcGIS Pro project (.APRX), attach the existing WaterGEMS model from the new location and save a new .WTG.GDB file.

  • I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.8.7 integrated with Watergems 10.03.05.05.

The issue occurred to me on multiple models and not one only. Sometimes on the same model it works until it reaches a stage where the join is not complete and gives the same error.

I have always tried the suggested workarounds like creating the file in a different location or deleting the intermediate geodatabase. the problem is that it works sometimes and other times it doesnt for the same model after more than one repetition. This made me curious about the reason causing this "Unexpected Error"

  • Thanks for the information. Intermittent issues can be challenging to troubleshoot. There may be some specific sequence of events that causes the join to fail.

Is your hydraulic model, .GDB and .APRX stored in the same folder, on your local hard drive? (or a network location?)

I will send you a private message about the latest cumulative patch set for WaterGEMS 10.03.05.05 in case it helps (the patch log only indicates one fix related to ArcGIS Pro though it may not be related to what you're experiencing).

I will also discuss with our developers for other ideas.
