MOVING HYDRANTS IN WATERGEMS

I have set up a watermodel with my water main, hydrants, and services from each home. If the layout of my hydrant has changed, is there a way to shift these without deleting everything I have setup? When I try to drag and drop them it messes up my watermain layout. This may be because my services are connected from a customer meter to a tap on the water main by a lateral. Any advice on the best way to shift these??

  • Hello Newman,

Since pipes need to have node elements (like hydrants and junctions) as end nodes to be valid, if you move the hydrant, the pipe will move with it. I am not sure how the pipes connected to the hydrants were added. Depending the information you have and what exactly you will be doing, there may be a couple of options you can try.

If there is an existing junction at the location you want to move the hydrant to, you could use the batch morph option. You can create a selection set of the junctions you now want to be hydrants and morph these junctions into hydrants. This link has information on this: How to Batch Morph nodes from one type to another. You could also use this to morph the hydrants into junctions as well, since pipes need to have some sort of end node to be valid.

If you manually drag the hydrants to a new location, you can also use the Reconnect option for pipe to set them in the correct location. This link has information on this: Is there a way to reconnect a pipe to another element without deleting it?

If this doesn't help, more information on the layout of the system and how everything is connected may be needed.

    Regards,

    Scott
