In old WaterGEMS V8i It could associate Customers Meters in the juctions but first checking the closest pipe. I mean, the software get the closest pipe then considering the distance of the start and stop node it get associated with the closest node. In the newest version I can't find a way of doing it. I can just choose between associating with the closest pipe or the closest node. It doesn't have the same option that old V8i. I prefer using junctions rather than pipe when associating the customers meters because I doesn't have problem when deleting, spliting, adding new elements, etc.
Someone have an idea how can I associate the customers meters in the juctions but considering just the start node or stop node of the closest pipe in the newest version of WaterGEMS?
Thank you in advance.
Mainly It's the known defect # 1004540 that i think is not yet resolved. For example, when I split pipes in the base scenario sometimes it automatically reassociate the associated pipes. But sometimes it doesn't. But the main problem is that for all child scenarios the associated element get lost and I have do run loadbuilder again. It's kind annoying. That's why I'm looking for a way to associated directly to the junctions but considering the closest pipe for best efficiency. And also I don't want to give up using customers meter by point load data.
Hello Eduardo,
You are able to assign customer meters directly to the nearest node. In LoadBuilder, when you select Customer Meter Load Data, there is an open for Nearest Node as well as Nearest Pipe. If you select Nearest Node, it will assign the customer meter to the nearest node element.
See this wiki for more information on customer meters in general: Customer Meter Elements and the External Customer Meter Data manager.

Scott
To add to Scott's answer - I checked V8i (08.11.06.113) and the same set of three options was available for customer meter load data in LoadBuilder.
The defect 1004540 that you mentioned appears to be a separate issue related to handling of scenarios and alternatives. If this is still an issue for you, first check to make sure you're using the latest version (currently 10.04.00.108), by going to File > Help > About. If you're on an older version, try upgrading. If you're already on the latest version, please provide a copy of the model and steps to reproduce the issue: Sharing Hydraulic Model Files on the OpenFlows Forum

First of all thank you for the replies. I have the 10.04.00.106 version. I will upgrade that and check the defect 1004540it again.
Jesse, in old V8i has the same three options available like you said. But when you selected nearest pipe it used to associated to the nearest node, but considering the perpedicular distance of the customer meter and the pipe. In the newest version It changed to associate to the pipe. In V8i when you selected nearest pipe was just one option in Load Assignment: closest node.
I got it that I can choose between nearest pipe and neareste node when using Loadbuilder to associate Customer Meters. But what I want to do is like a mixed option: associate the customers meters in the juctions but considering just the start node or stop node of the closest pipe. Can I do that? I used to do exactly this in old V8i.
The reason is that the results choosing nearest pipe is more real than closest node considering a perpendicular lateral between hydrometer and the pipe. And choosing nearest node some customer meters are associated with the wrong node, not considering the pipe 'in front'. And I prefer to deal with the model when the Customer Meter are associated with nodes.
Thanks for clarifying. In CONNECT Edition we added taps and laterals, which also introduced the ability to assign customer meter demands directly to pipes (which actually place the demand on the adjacent end nodes based on the "demand distribution" set in the customer meter properties). This is why the behavior of the nearest pipe method changed.
I have reported your request (and your explanation for why you want it) to our Development team for consideration in a future release. Reference #1052398. Perhaps they can add a check box option to the nearest pipe method to enable you to assign the customer meters directly to the end nodes of the pipes, like the legacy behavior.
I also added a note about this to the following related articles:
