1. PMP-1 exceeds the maximum operating point specified for the pump curve
2. Also while running pump Failure case getting Cavitation

Also while running pump Failure case getting Cavitation[/quote]

Assuming you are referring to a transient simulation in HAMMER, cavitation is an expected phenomenon when the pressure drops below the vapor pressure limit (this is set in the calculation options and defaults to -10 m)

You can read more about how HAMMER models vapor pocket formation and collapse here:

Assumptions and limitations of tracking air or vapor pockets in HAMMER

How does HAMMER calculate vapor pocket formation and collapse?

Preventing this from happening is where the engineer's job comes in. There are many possible mitigation strategies for preventing cavitation/vapor pockets but the "correct" one depends on your design and space requirements, budget and engineering judgement. For example for a pump shutdown, a hydropneumatic tank on the discharge side of the pump can often (but not always) help, but there are many other things to consider: Transient Protection Strategies

You may also need to consider how long the pump will be off, in case the topography is such that a tank would drain as long as the pump remains off. See: Negative pressures occur during a transient simulation no matter what protection is used

RE: PMP-1 exceeds the maximum operating point specified for the pump curve

D Pradhan,

This Wiki article should explain and help resolve the error you are seeing regarding your pump exceeding the maximum operating point specified for the pump curve.

Which product and version are you running when you see the Cavitation? Are you receiving a User Notification? If so, what else does it tell you?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Larry
