Hi,
I was wondering if I did the "constant flow" method does the pond need to be using Elevation-Area or one of the other options under the volume type that are available?
Also i am aware that the solver should be implicit or the GVF-Rational (StormCAD). Which is favored over the other one and why?
thanks!
Paola,
The "Constant flow" pond seepage method is available with the Implicit and GVF-Convex solvers. It models a constant infiltration rate (flow leaving the pond through the soil). Note that a numerical stability filter is used to limit the seepage at low pond depths. An alternative way to model pond seepage is to add a secondary pond outlet structure connected to a free outfall, with composite outlet structure configured with the user defined rating table option. The Implicit and GVF-Rational solvers are completely different. The Implicit solver is an unsteady simulation where you can route hydrographs and account for complex dynamic effects. The StormCAD solver is a steady state (peak flow) only, suitable for pipe sizing. Ponds are modeled in a highly simplified way (storage impact not accounted for due to being a steady state) See:
