Warning notification "Air valves are treated as junctions with large surcharge depths."

Hi,

Again i got this warning notification stated above when i validated my model. Again i was not sure what this notification is really trying to tell me? It does not allow me to zoon into a structure, pipe, pond or anything so not sure where in my model that warning would pertain? Also not sure really if its another notification that means i need to fix something in my model.

Again advise please.

thanks,

Paola

  • Paola,

This is an informational message. It is telling you that you have air valve node elements in your model and if you are using the Explicit (SWMM) solver, those air valves do not behave in the way that they do with the GVF-Convex (SewerCAD) solver as described here.

The message it telling you that with the SWMM solver, the air valve is treated as if there is a junction at that location, which is allowed to surcharge (pressurize) to any value. The "high point" situation mentioned in the article does not apply and the SWMM solver automatically accounts for the high point. See the section "Implicit and Explicit Solver in SewerGEMS" in the article.
