CivilStorm 2D modeling & "precipitation on the grid "

Does 2D modeling inside CivilStorm have the option to use "precipitation on the grid "

  • Hello,

There are two options for how rainfall is accounted for in 2D modeling. In the properties for the calculation options, find the property field Rainfall Method. If you set Rainfall Method to “Rainfall on Grid and Catchments,” the 2D grid will receive rainfall, as well as any 1D catchments in the model. You will want to avoid overlapping catchments and the grid, as this will results in double-counting for rainfall in these areas. If overlapping does occur a user notification will be generated when computing or validating the model.

If you set the Rainfall Method to “Rainfall on Catchments Only,” the 2D grid will only receive flow from elements in the model, such as catch basin overflows. The catchments in the model would be used for hydrologic calculations.

This is documented the following wiki: 2D Modeling in SewerGEMS and CivilStorm.

    Regards,

    Scott
