I have run my model and received a very high continuity error in a specific pond in my model. My pond is going to an outlet structure and then an oufall somewhere else in the model is using that pond for a boundary condition.
When i plot HGL, flow in and flow out as you see how wacky the pond flow in and out is going and not stable. See below.
I have plotted other ponds in my model to compare and none are like that except for the two ponds that are giving me high continuity errors.
I am not sure how to fix that so the continuity error reduces in my model.
Please advise and let me know if you need any other information to assist with this inquiry.
thanks,
Hello Paola,
In you are using the Implicit solver, the first thing to do is to make sure the model setup is accurate, including the setup of the composite outlet structure. If so, you can also make adjustments to the calculation options. Information on this can be found here: Troubleshooting unstable SewerGEMS and CivilStorm results using the Implicit solver.
You may also want to consider using the Explicit solver available in SewerGEMS and CivilStorm. You can change the solver in the calculation options. You may want to make adjustments to the Routing Time Step in the calculation options, setting this to a value of 1 second. If further troubleshooting is needed in the Explicit solver, you can find information here: Troubleshooting unstable SewerGEMS and CivilStorm results using the Explicit SWMM solver.

Scott
