jonctions watercad

I want to select the junctions that are at the end of the pipes in Watercad, so I can add directly the demand.

How can I do this ?

  • The following link has information on entering demands in WaterCAD: Working with Demands in WaterGEMS and WaterCAD. If you only need to add demands to one or a few junctions, you can open the junction Properties grid and enter the demand through the Demand Collection field. This is Option 1 in the link above.

If you are working with demands for many junctions, using the Demand Control Center to enter the demands would be a good method. This includes if you need to add demands to a certain selection set of demands. Information on this is in Option 2 in the link.

If you have demand data in a shapefile or Excel file, there are other methods to import this data into WaterCAD. Option 4 in the link above has more information on this.

If you run into issues with this, please provide more information on the type of demand data you are adding to the system.

  • To add to this:

There is a query in Network Navigator to select dead end nodes. Open Network Navigator, click the > button and choose Network Review > Dead End Nodes. To select these in the drawing. click the Select In Drawing button in Network Navigator. You can then right-click in the drawing and choose Create Selection Set

This selection set can then be used to add demands to just these nodes in the Demand Control Center.

Alternatively, you could use the Query option in the Demand Control Center to select the dead nodes. In the Demand Control Center, click the Query button. The same queries from Network Navigator are there. So you could select the Dead End Nodes query to filter the Demand Control Center on just the dead end nodes.
