Dear all,
I want to build a model for surge analysis using excel datasheet. I have a chainage and pipe invert level data. Can any one suggest the complete procedure to build a model in hammer?? I already read help menu, but still i am not clear. Plz reply. Thanks.

Hello Samir,
In order to build a complete model with Modelbuilder, you'll need both node and pipe data, with X/Y coordinates for the nodes. So, you may not have enough information here.
My best suggestion would be to add two new fields to the spreadsheet, one called 'Y' and one called "label". Enter zero for the "Y" field for all rows and enter appropriate node labels for the "label" field (such as J-1, J-2, etc). Then in Modelbuilder, choose Junction as the table type, the "label" field for the "key field", the "chainage" field for the "X field" and the "Y" field for the "Y field". Then, link the "invert level" to the "elevation" field. This will import the nodes at the correct elevations, in a straight horizontal line, with the correct distance between them. You will then need to lay out pipes between each junction and enter the diameter, roughness, etc. Use the scaled length option so the correct length is used, based on the distance between the nodes.
Of course, if you only have 5 nodes, it'll be easier to just manually enter them.
If you need further help, please send the data file to technical support.
