Hi,
I'm using WaterCAD V8i. In Model Builder, I browsed my dxf file and specified unit. Then, I clicked twice "Next" button and I saw Settings section. But I don't remember what i have to do next. For example, how can I enter "AutoCad Layer" in field section? Can anybody give an information about key fields in Model Builder Wizard?
Regards,
Seylan
Hello Seylan,
I'd recommend reading the help documentation on Modelbuilder, as it should answer your questions.
You choose which layers you want to import by using the check boxes on the left side of the very first Modelbuilder step. Then in the "field mapping" step, the left side lists the layers you had chosen. Click each one, then choose the table type (WaterCAD element that it maps to.) The key field is a field in the data source that contains unique identifiers for each element, and is used to generate element labels. For most data source types, a "<label>" field is available for the key field, which will automatically generate unique labels, in cases where your data source does not already contain an appropriate key field.
The below technote contains additional information on how to create a model from a DXF file using Modelbuilder:
