I have run into a recent problem. I've been trying to do a age calculation on our water system and for some reason the largest duration I can calculate is 128 hrs. If I change it to 129 hrs the calculation fails and I get an error:
Calculation Engine Failed. Please see user notifications for possible causes.
To obtain a complete list of problems choose 'Analysis|Validate'.
The user notifications indicate:
41110 "Age-128 HR" "Scenario" "12518" "Age-128 HR" (N/A) "Cannot solve network hydraulic equations." Pressure Engine
Element ID: 12518 is my Age scenario.
running Validate gives me no errors.
I'm confused as to why I can run my analysis for 128hr and nothing greater than that.
Thanks
Hi tschrage,
Based on the message, I would first try to run a regular EPS condition with the same duration as of the Water Age scenario. If it runs without any issue then it's good time to run the Water Age analysis.
If it doesn't run then you know the problem lies elsewhere (not in the Water Age analysis). (You may also try running in Steady State condition and see how system behaves)
If you still get the same error message then double check your boundary conditions data like pump on/off status, valves status, open/closed pipes etc.
Let us know what you find or need further help.
I have run an EPS at 250+ hrs with no issues.
If it runs fine in EPS but not in Water Age scenario then we need to look at your model. There are two ways you can send model to us. If you want your model can only be accessible by Bentley colleague then please click on the "Upload" in my signature and follow the instructions or you can also upload the file to this thread by going over "Advanced Reply Editor" and the Attachments tab.
I've narrowed down my issue to my control scheme. I had forgotten I setup a bunch of new control schemes to try and mimic our system operation more accurately. The standard EPS run was using basic tank level control and my age analysis runs with just basic tank level control.
All my new controls use time dependent tank level control. The pumps turn on(day or night) at the same level but shut off differently depending on the time of day and time of year(summer/winter). I also have pump lead/lag controls included as well as a fill time requirement so they get a little intense.
I will work with my control scheme a bit to see if I can make it run properly.
I've corrected my age issue with simplifying my control scheme a bit. I have another question on my EPS run. One of my tanks sits empty for 12hrs although the pumps(PMP-11 and PMP-3) associated with that tank run.
I've uploaded my model for you to take a look.
I assume, you are referring to scenario name "EPS"?
After running the model in 08.11.08.50 version, I got "Network Unbalanced" message so at this point, I cannot fully trust the results. Despite the Network Unbalanced, I looked at your tanks and I see all of them are fluctuating?
Looks like I am not on the same page with you.
