  • Hey Rekcah,

I want to welcome you to Bentley's Hammer Software! Before getting into too many details about modeling an entire system on the forums, please take a look at some of our help documentation. The following link is a New User Guide for Hammer. Take a look through this link to get a better idea of how to use and design in the Hammer software.

    New User Guide for HAMMER

There are numerous articles on BECommunities focused on different elements of Hammer modeling. Please take a look on the Forums and through our Wiki's. If you have any specific questions please let us know. Again, welcome to Hammer!

  • In additional to the information Dan provided, you may also want to look at the HAMMER help documentation, specifically the section called "Turbines". There is a diagram there that might be useful. There is a turbine sample model that is included with the HAMMER installation as well, found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\HAMMER8\Samples\Turbine_Example.wtg.

Lastly, the following TechNote has some additional information on modeling turbines in HAMMER: communities.bentley.com/.../7139.using-turbines-in-bentley-hammer.aspx. The diagram noted above is also found in the TechNote.

  • I'll also point out a couple of specific learning resources for turbines.

    1) The sample models installed with HAMMER is called Turbine_Example.wtg. In this model you will see a typical turbine setup with scenarios for each Operating Case.

    2) The below technote talks specifically about modeling turbines:

    communities.bentley.com/.../7139.using-turbines-in-bentley-hammer.aspx

Note the diagram at the top which shows that the Penstock is essentially the pipe upstream of the turbine unit.
