[OpenFlows HAMMER] - Pumps in parallel failure scenarios
Julio Issao Kuwajima
Hi I want to analyze failure scenarios for 2 pumps in parallel in HAMMER. Therefore I´d like to ask how could I set the following scenarios: 1-) Sudden and simultaneous pumps Start-up (sudden change in flow). 2-) Sudden and simultaneous pumps…

Why do check valves open and close multiple times 10 seconds after the pump shuts off?
Samantha Weidenbenner
This system is modeled to have three intake pipes to three pumps (modeled as a single pump curve) through three check valves into a single force main. Even though a pressure threshold of 100 psi has been added to the check valve properties, the check…

Re: Hydropneumatic Tank Modeling - Need Help
Mal Sharkey
I think your tank is just too small. You have a (very big!) flow of 9 m^3/s in the pipeline, and only a 5 m^3 hydropneumatic tank. At that rate the tank completely drains in about half a second and has a negligible effect on the pump-stop transients…

Re: Hammer
Mal Sharkey
Also, it seems like this are quite large pumps so under normal conditions you probably control their shut down over a longer period (if not, you might want to consider doing this). If the pumps are normally controlled to shut down slowly over…
