OpenFlows product model files stored in ProjectWise don't open properly when you double click on them.

If you drag and drop files into ProjectWise, will this create a relationship between the group of files on Projectwise?

When attempting to open the model stored in ProjectWise the following message appears:

"The selected file is not the master document of a file set. If it is a WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition Update 1 model, it should be saved to ProjectWise from WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition Update 1 before it can be opened. If you are trying to import a .mdb file or an older model, try using the Import menu items."

Solution

It is very likely you dragged and dropped the files into ProjectWise. To confirm this look for a little white icon in the lower right hand corner of the file icon. If it's not there you can assume that this is what happened. Model files need to be saved to ProjectWise from within the product in order to properly link them as a File set / Link set.

In order to fix the file association follow these steps:

1) Move the files to a location on your hard drive where they can be easily accessed such as your desktop or C:\

2) Open the OpenFlows product (such as StormCAD) and ensure that it is properly configured to integrate with ProjectWise. Log into ProjectWise.

3) Open the file by going to FILE > OPEN

4) Once the file is open, go to File > save As (which will automatically open the ProjectWise save dialog if you are integrated). Or, if using an older version (which integrates differently with ProjectWise) go to FILE > PROJECTWISE > SAVE AS and save to your ProjectWise folder of choice.

NOTE: This links the database file (ex: .stsw.sqlite) to the program file (ex: .stsw) so the file will now open correctly. When the files are dragged and dropped in this Link Set is not established.
