This TechNote will detail the steps needed to transfer custom Engineering Library files from one computer to another.
This TechNote is a result of a few customers requesting help on moving custom Engineering Library files from one computer to another, so that another user doesn't need to recreate them. These include anything that might be in an Engineering Library for a given product. For the storm and sewer products, this might include custom inlets, storm data, runoff values, and flow-headloss curves. For the water products, this might be pipe material or air valve curves.
Note that that steps below show one example from the Engineering Library, but the same general steps can be used for any custom library file.
Browse to Components > Engineering Libraries, to open the Engineering Libraries on the computer.
The individual library files are .XML files that are stored in some location on your computer. To see where those are, highlight the .XML file you want to transfer to another computer. On the right side of the screen, you will see where the library file is stored. In the case below, the file to be shared between computers is "new CN library.xml".
Note: If you ever forget where you saved the library you can highlight that library and to see the where the file is saved, as shown highlighted above.
After browsing to the files and transferring the .XML to the other computer, open the Engineering Libraries on the new computer by going to Components > Engineering Libraries. Highlight the type of library file it is (in the example above "CN Libraries"). Next, select the New button, then Add Existing Library.
Browse to the library .XML file and choose Select. The library file will now be available on the new computer.
