Problem

Is it possible to delete an element from one scenario, but retain it in the base scenario?

For example two pipes with a junction in one scenario, but just one pipe and no junction in another?

Solution

Because of the way that the data is stored in the database file associated with the model, it is not possible to delete an element from one scenario and have it appear in another. Instead, it is recommended that the user created a new Active Topology alternative.

The Active Topology alternative is a method of model management that allows the user to remove certain elements from the model. This is especially useful if the user needs to model an existing system versus a proposed system. The user will start with a base model and add the proposed elements. This proposed elements will be set to Inactive in an Active Topology alternative when computing the existing system. A separate Active Topology alternative with all elements active can be created for computing a scenario for the proposed system.

In this same way, if a user wishes to see the model results with a certain element removed or replaced, a new Active Topology alternative can be used. For additional information the wiki on Active Topology Management or search the Help documentation for "Scenario Management." There is also a Quick Start Lesson on the topic.

Example: delete J-1 in scenario B, using one pipe instead of two:
