Problem

Why does my profile animation or time history show zero gas volume for a hydropneumatic tank (gas vessel) even though I know it should be changing?

Solution

This volume is the volume of the air or vapor inside the pipeline at that point in the network. To see the the gas volume inside the tank, first enter a Report Period in the properties of the hydropneumatic tank, then compute the transient simulation.

If you have HAMMER V8i SELECTseries 5 or later, you can open the Transient Results Viewer and select the Extended Node Results tab. You can get results for select elements here, including hydropneumatic tanks. You can plot a graph of gas volume from here and view the data in a table format.

This data is also available in the Transient Analysis Detailed Report for all V8i and V8 XM versions of HAMMER. Also, the summary of max/min pressure/volume inside the tank is located in the output log under the section titled "THE EXTREME PRESSURES AND VOLUMES OF THE GAS IN THE VESSEL AT NODE "X" ARE AS FOLLOWS:"
