Problem
After computing the transient analysis, a user notification is generated stating that an element was removed from the transient analysis: "Element not included because it is Closed."
Solution
This message occurs when a pipe is closed during the computation of the initial conditions. In the pipe properties, check to see if "Is closed?" is set to true. If not, also check if "Has check valve?" is set to true.
If the pump does have a check valve, you may want to consider using the Check Valve element available in HAMMER. This can be used instead of the "Has check valve?" setting for the pipe. With the Check Valve element, it is possible to set the valve to close, but still allow the valve and the pipe to be active in the transient analysis.
