Problem

How do you associate a pump to a pump station?

What is the difference between a pump and a pump station, in SewerGEMS?

Problem ID#: 52793

Solution

In previous versions of SewerGEMS (08.11.01.21 and below) a pump node element could encompass multiple pumps (a station of pumps), but now each pump node must represent a single pump.

The pump station option simply allows you to organize which pump nodes are in a station. A station is typically a pump house with multiple pumps in parallel, but you can organize it any way you'd like. From a modeling standpoint, the pump station element makes it easier to set up the on/off controls (since it's a tabular view and is filtered to show just the pumps in the selected station).

Pumps are associated with pump stations by opening the properties of the pump and setting the 'Pump Station' field to the pump station name that pump is located in. You may have to click on the ellipsis button and select the pump station by clicking in the drawing pane if the pump station label is not found in the drop down list already.

Alternatively you can add Pumps to the Pumping station in the Physical Properties of the Pumping Station. Select the required pumps by clicking the ellipsis button. Click on New in the top left corner and select pumps from the layout.
