Problem
How can I simulate a flywheel on a pump to reduce a transient?
Solution
A flywheel can be simulated by increasing the inertia on the transient tab in the pump definitions manager (Components > Pump Definitions).
Please make sure to keep this information in mind when considering using a flywheel for protection against a transient:
a) They are usually big and heavy, so the pump station needs to be designed to accommodate them
b) They require extra energy each time you start the pump. As a result of the extra energy required the pump may need a larger motor
