There are a number of different files in the folder containing the model files. What are these files and which are needed to run the program?Problem ID#: 41749
A number of different file types are created as the model is saved andcomputed. In order to open and compute a model in the standaloneversions of the products, two files are needed. These are the starterfile (see below for the file extension) and the database file (.xxx.mdb,where "xxx" is the same as the starter file). Backup files are createdas well. These will often have file extensions ending in the letter "k,"such as .mdk or .bak. In addition, output files are created. Standardoutput files have a file extension of .out. Report files will be .rpc.
Other results files associated with a hydraulics and hydrology line of Bentley products are:Results files: .rpc, .out (model output), .bin, .gut, .eqt, .hyg (hydrology output), .cul, .swm (SWMM data file). There is one set per scenario. If you are running your program integrated with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, orMicrostation, other files types are necessary as well. For AutoCAD, youwill have .dwg file with the same name as your model starter file. ForArcGIS, you have a geodatabase (.mdb). For Microstation, you will have adrawing file (.dgn).For the standalone additions of the products, the following are the twofiles needed to run and compute a given model:
WaterCAD/WaterGEMS/HAMMER: .wtg & .wtg.mdb (wtg.sqlite) SewerCAD: .swc & .swc.mdb (.stsw.sqlite) SewerGEMS: .swg & .swg.mdb (.stsw.sqlite) CivilStorm: .csd & .csd.mdb (.stsw.sqlite) StormCAD: .stc & .stc.mdb(.stsw.sqlite) Pondpack V8i: .ppc & .ppc.mdb (note for Pondpack V10, only the .ppw file is needed)The .mdb or sqlite (more recent versions) file is the most important file because it contains allmodeling data, and includes everything needed to perform a calculation. This file is an open access database format file and can be viewed andedited. The .swg,.csd, .stsw, .wtg, .ppc, .stc, and .swc files contain data such as annotation and color-coding definitions. This file is an open .xml format file and can be viewed and edited. The .dwh file is used by the Stand-Alone mode only, and contains the drawing. This is a binary format file.Whenever you create a file with a name of Filename, three files are created:Filename.mdb or Filename.sqliteFilename.swg, Filename.stsw, Filename.wtgFilename.dwhWhen you move a file and speed is important, it is best to place allthree in a .zip file, which will greatly reduce file size. Then copy ormove the zip file and unzip it.Every time you save the file, you not only overwrite the previousversion but you also convert the old files to .bak files. Each file willhave it's original file name plus the extension .bak, for exampleFilename.swg.bak.If your file becomes corrupted or you accidentally delete it, you can go back to the previous version by simply removing the .bak suffix from the file name and using that file (after deleting the corrupted file if necessary). You can usually delete the results files because they you can regenerated them by re-running your model. To send your files to another user of the software you only need to send the project files (.swg (.stsw), .dwh, and .mdb (.sqlite) for SewerGEMS etc...). The results files will be recreated when the scenarios associated with the model are calculated.
