Problem

Can WaterGEMS import geometric networks with complex edges?

Problem ID#: 55821

Solution

Yes, WaterGEMS V8i versions SELECTseries 3 and later support importing Geometric Networks with complex edges, using the Modelbuilder tool. You will need to be working in the WaterGEMS for ArcMap environment though, in order to select Geometric Network as your data source type. Otherwise, you should export your geometric network as a shapefile, which can be used by WaterGEMS in the standalone, AutoCAD, and Microstation environments.

More background can be found in the WaterGEMS help documentation, under Contents > Using ModelBuilder to Transfer Existing Data > ESRI ArcGIS Geodatabase Support > ArcGIS Geodatabase Features versus ArcGIS Geometric Network.

Note that WaterGEMS currently does not support synchronizing out a model (in Modelbuilder) back to a geometric network with complex edges.
