Problem

How do you change the display precision or format for an element property so that more numbers are shown after the decimal point?

How many decimal places does the software look to when determining results for fields like flow, velocity, pressure, hydraulic grade, etc.?

Problem ID#: 80512

Solution

All our products look out to 10 decimal places in these fields.

There are a couple of ways of changing display precision. First, you can change this in the Properties grid for an element. Right-click on the attribute name or unit and select "Units and Formatting". A new dialog will open, with Display Precision being one of the items.

Change the display precision by specifying the number of decimal places desired. So if the value is 4.52 m then the display precision should be kept as 2. There is an option to change how the attribute would appear. This can be done by selecting a format from the drop-down menu. The available formats are Scientific, Fixed Point, General and Number. How the attribute is displayed would change depending on the format chosen.

Similarly, you can open the element FlexTable and right-click on a column header. Then select "Units and Formatting" here as well.

Finally, you can change the display precision by going to Tools > Options, then selecting the Units tab. Display precision is one of the items that can be changed in the table shown.
