Problem

How do I add an extreme flow or peaking factor to my model?

Problem ID#: 68367

Solution

The first thing to know is that a peaking factor or extreme flow factor
(as we call it in the software) is that it's only used for a steady
state model run, not an EPS model run.

To apply the extreme flow factor they can follow the steps below:

a) Go to Components > Extreme Flows and create either a new
table based extreme flow factor based on population or create a new
equation based extreme flow factor based on population. There is more
information in the help documents for this part of the setup if you
click the blue question mark icon in the upper right side of the dialog
box. After you are done close the dialog box

b) Go to Components > Extreme Flow Setups and create a new
extreme flow setup. Here is where you select the extreme flows that you
set up in the previous step under the extreme flow method column. The
help button in the lower right corner of the dialog box should explain
any other questions on what columns are for this portion of the setup.
After you are done close the dialog box

c) Finally, go to Analysis > Calculation Options and double
click the calculation option for the scenario you are setting up to
expose the properties. Within the properties there is a field under the
"Gravity Pressure Interface Options" section called Extreme Flow Setup.
Here you use the drop down arrow to select the extreme flow setup that
you just created in step "b". Once this is all set up you can then run
your model and the extreme flow factor you created will be applied.
