Problem

When performing a standard task the following error message is generated.

"Value does not fall within the expected range."

Here are some examples of tasks that have led to this message:

  • Changing Scenarios
  • Computing or Validating
  • Changing Demands

Solution

This issue has been known to occur if annotations in the Element Symbology reference selection sets that have been deleted. If this occurs in a model, edit the annotation to either include all elements or a current selection set. Also when you  are using selection sets to assign demands, patterns and when you delete some elements from that selection set the crash is observed, redefine selection set in that case.

If that doesn't help, try the following steps:

1. Compact Database

a. Close the model files but leave the program open.

b. Go to Tools > Database Utilities > Compact Database and select the database file.

c. Choose the selection to purge the database to save space.

d. Try opening the model.

2. Move .wtg and .sqlite files to a new folder

Note: At times, one of the supporting files can cause an issue when opening a model.

a. Copy the water model files (.wtg, and .sqlite) or sewer model files (.stsw, and .sqlite).

b. Paste them into a new folder on a local drive.

3. Import the database file into a new drawing

a. Close the model files but leave the program open.

b. Go to File > Import > WaterGEMS/WaterCAD/SewerGEMS/SewerCAD database.

c. Select the database file associated with the model.

4. Restore a backup of the model
