Problem
When trying to compute a PondPack model or compute a composite outlet structure, the following error message occurs, or an "internal error" dialog appears, with the following error mentioned at the top of the log file:
"Index outside the bounds of the array."
Solution
This is a generic error that can occur in a number of different situations.
- In one case, it can occur if there is an issue or corruption with the storm data. Double-check that the data is entered correctly. If it is, try recreating the data. If it is stored in the Engineering Library, you can import it through there after deleting the storm event.
If it is not in the Engineering Library, you can still create a new storm. Simply copy the data from the table in the Storm Data dialog, delete the existing event, then create a new storm event. Fill in the necessary data and then paste the data into the table for the new storm event. You may want to use Excel as a place to store the data between these steps. Once you have the storm created, go to Components > Global Storm Events and re-select the storm event for your Rainfall Runoff alternative.
- If you are seeing this error message when using the Dimensionless Huff Distributions, see the link in the "See Also" link below.
- If the issue is seen in the composite outlet structure editor - check your data. If you have any irregular weirs, make sure the maximum elevations are equal to the top of the pond, and that there are not an excessive number of rows in the table.
- If this error occurs only when using batch run, it could be due to a known issue (reference # 723625) related to having a large number of elements with long labels. Try relabeling your ponds to use shorter labels.
If this does not help and you are using the latest version (10.02.00.01 as of September, 2019), contact technical support by forum or Service Request. Compress the .PPC and .PPC.MDB files into a ZIP file and provide it to Support.
